The 4th Joint Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) Event focused on the implementation of the Smart Readiness Indicator across EU Member States and the role of European projects in supporting its development and adoption.
During the event, Vasso Kontou represented DATAWiSE project, contributing to discussions on digital tools and policy support mechanisms that can facilitate the assessment of smart-ready buildings and the broader integration of smart technologies in the built environment.
The programme highlighted ongoing efforts to implement the SRI framework across Europe, with particular attention given to the role of LIFE projects in supporting practical tools for SRI audits, the design of test phases and the integration of SRI indicators with Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).
Participants also shared national experiences from several Member States, including Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain, providing insights into the potential benefits of SRI for buildings, energy systems and the competitiveness of the European construction and energy sectors.
The discussions further explored how SRI and EPC initiatives can be aligned with broader EU policy objectives related to energy efficiency, digitalisation and the transition towards smarter and more resilient buildings.
The exchange of experiences during the event offered useful perspectives on the future development and implementation of the Smart Readiness Indicator across Europe.
